Clean Growth Fund sponsored the two day Net Zero Festival hosted by Business Green, which took place 28/29 September at the Mermaid, London.
Our Founder & Managing Partner, Beverley Gower-Jones, took to the stage to deliver a keynote speech to an audience of approximately 600 industry innovators and leaders. The talk demonstrated that investment in early-stage green technology is the UKs biggest growth opportunity. Beverley highlighted to the audience that the UK’s largest tech IPO (£9.5billion) is currently, in fact, a green technology business – but that the number of deals and total investment going into clean tech is significantly below other tech sectors such as AI and biotech.
The keynote ended with an important reminder for the audience:
Climate change is an existential threat to our very being, our businesses, our homes and our loved ones – the children who inherit the world we leave behind – our world.
Clean Growth Fund also took part in a workshop panel alongside Michael Lowe from our portfolio company, Sunswap, Jon Saltmarsh of the government’s Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and Chris Sim of Investec.
This well-rounded panel gave attendees the chance to hear in just a short time from an entrepreneur, two investors and a government representative. Focused on financial flows and speeding the scale of net zero innovation, the workshop was very well attended.
Clean Growth Fund also had an exhibition stand throughout the event which we ran alongside our sister company, Carbon Limiting Technologies. Clean Growth Fund work closely with Carbon Limiting Technologies to assist our portfolio companies in scaling up and growing, in order to commercialise their products and services in the fastest way possible.
The team relished the opportunity to meet face-to-face with industry peers and look forward to seeing everyone again next year.
