Susannah McClintock, Investment Director
Since we launched in mid-2020, we have received approaches from many different early-stage companies wanting us to invest in them and help take them through their next phase of growth. It’s great to have received so many approaches but why have we invested in the seven companies in our portfolio so far? It is a question that we are often asked.
We invest in innovations that significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions or improve resource efficiency across power, transport, industry, buildings, waste and water: businesses whose products and activities play a major role in the transition to net zero.
As a Venture Capital fund, we are investing in early-stage companies with commercially viable solutions that are generating early revenues or have a clear pathway to near term revenues. We invest exclusively in UK-based companies that have a global outlook and are scalable.
We look to invest across the technology spectrum, including hardware, software, process systems, materials, deep tech and business model innovations: companies that are capable of driving real and rapid change on a global scale. And we want to invest in and work with outstanding management teams that have successfully demonstrated the technical feasibility of their product or service alongside compelling evidence of market traction and engagement.
We typically invest £0.5m to £3m as a first investment and look to follow-on in the best performing companies.
If you think your company meets our criteria, please visit the entrepreneurs page of this website where you will find more information and a link to a short (3 minute) questionnaire about your business. We have invested in Piclo, Indra, Carbon Re, tepeo, Holiferm, Above Surveying and Sunswap. Could your company be our next investment? If so, we’d like to hear from you.
